The Stonewall Rebellion, took place June 28th 1969 when a lesbian woman by the name of Stormé DeLarverie cause the spark that started a revolution! On that night the police went to a gay bar to ruff up some gays. (It was a common occurrence) on this evening Stormé, fought back! She was brought through the crowd, fought with at least four of the police, swearing and shouting, after about ten minutes she was hit on the head with a baton, and shouted that her handcuffs were too tight. She was battered and bleeding she continued to fight back. Finally she looked at the crowd and shouted, "Why don't you guys do something?" After an officer picked her up and tossed her into the wagon, the crowd became a mob and went "berserk.“ It was at that moment that the scene became explosive. Some have referred to Stormé as the gay community's Rosa Parks. Despite her place in history she is rarely given credit, or even mentioned when stonewall is mentioned.
